Try using a clean install of minecraft, IE no mods.
If you have a clean version and that still doesn't work, re-download

Have you tried wiping all traces of minecraft from your computer?
could be a corrupted file somewhere, i'm not sure, only speculating.

    Ok, few ideas.

Can you join the same server from a different computer using the same account, and/or can you use a different account on the same computer to get on the server.
Just to see if you have you been banned from the server on that specific account?

You could always try manually updating Java to the very latest (or even beta) build via the official site (not the 'Check for updates' rubbish). Make sure you pick the 32 or 64 bit versions depending on your OS.

Sorry to ask this, but have you made sure to delete the hidden "/.minecraft" folder in your user settings, as well as redownloaded the Minecraft.exe from the official site?
I've seen elsewhere posted "Just re-download the client from minecraft.net and it should fix the problem for you." which would suggest if you did then it should be fixed.

And now i'm all out of ideas...
