Yeah no **** a quiet camping area wouldn't work - being an area where people actually want silence. It's a little different in a chatty lanhall where people have headsets.
My point was that at Newbury or possibly Stoneleigh I believe where there was outside camping there WAS a 'quiet' camping area and a 'loud' one where people could have their outside drinks/bbq/party whatever and despite this segregation there was still loud tosspots making a racket in the quiet section - or indeed being loud enough to carry over.

So if people can't even manage to control themselves in a designated quiet place where people are expected to be sleeping it is never ever going to work in a LAN hall unless they are entirely different halls which again is a cost issue and never going to happen. So the only option is to start asking people to moderate their behaviour to a level that is respectful to those around them.

Which shouldn't be to big an ask really.

    Well, in regards to that.

At i58, indoor camping was spread across two halls. Depending on the entrance point, surely lesssound will carry over to another hall.

What happens if 3/4s of the camping want the be in the quiet area and only 1/4 want the noisy area.
Do you want to be the person telling people they have to sleep in an area that is going to be noisy because the 'quiet' area is full?

Just remembered another really ugly thing...

Special Effect were tucked away in the far corner of the exhibition hall (opposite side of the music zone), far out the way behind everything. Had no idea they were there until the end of Monday. Which is rather concerning seen as Multiplay are big supporters of Special Effect! WTF was that about!?

    The Good
    • The Multiplay Staff. As someone who was running a Charity Livestream for SpecialEffect AND attending the event as a member of the press, I couldn't help but feel that the Multiplay Staff were as willing to help anybody in the best way that they could and go out of their way to help.
    • The Main Stage. I must admit I was quite impressed at the size of the Main Stage and the Audio Equipment used. The Bass was funny at how loud they could get it to rumble. The lighting of the main stage was incredible and the screens behind were amazing.
    • The Expo Hall. The exhibitors were amazing, I did think the booths were amazing sizes for everyone and they all got their fair share of size compared to each other. I didn't feel like anyone was insanely large compared to a extremely small booth, it seemed to be planned quite well.
    • NEC Security. When I hosted my Charity Livestream I held a Giveaway and had members of my Team head over to the large empty area next to the Special Effect both to giveaway all of the items we had. With only 4 hours notice I managed to be allocated 3 NEC Security Guards who stayed from the beginning until the very end of my Giveaway, took part and threw things into the crowd too then escorted us back to our Livestream room so we were not bombarded! Much appreciated to you Security Guards at the NEC who helped us with that!
    • The Pub Quiz Proposal. As my table was front row to the pub quiz I had the perfectly opportunity to film it for them. Congratulations to you both, I hope you have a very long and happy gamer marriage!
[Only new forum member so can't post links.. Video on my twitter @AlexHH25]
    • Ticket Queues. Even though I did have a Press & Exhibitor Ticket and collected my tickets in a different place to everyone with normal tickets, I must admit that I didn't see a large queue wrapping around the NEC or a Hall waiting for their tickets which I thought was great for once!

    The Bad
    • The Expo Hall. Even though I have said that the size of the Exhibitors was great and I have included it in the good. I do have to say I feel like the Expo Hall has been getting smaller and smaller over the Insomnia's. I'm not sure whether we are getting less and less Exhibitors or if we are just getting bigger halls and not filling them. There was a huge space right at the back of the hall near the toilets that just looked - plain and empty..
    • The Pub Quiz. Now I have only been to two, but my Team / Table Members have been going for quite a while and we all agreed it felt like Multiplay just shut the Pub Quiz and that was that. We are used to chanting our usual "ONE MORE SONG" and having our wish granted a extra 3 or 4 times but it was really quite abrupt. They shut us down, then ended the audio and the was that. The end. Not normal for an Insomnia Pub Quiz if you ask me.
    • Inappropriately Behaved "Professionals". As someone who was hosting a Charity Livestream on behalf of Special Effect and was granted permission to by Multiplay themselves and they gave us everything we needed (that you Multiplay, I love you), there were some people labeled "Press" and "Business Professionals" who honestly, I would have liked to punch. This is something I was quite annoyed about. Entering the room where a Charity Livestream is taking place using a megaphone, shouting "My name is Jeoff" in the background of the Livestream and running along in groups banging on the windows. Was disgusting behaviour from so called professionals if you ask me.
    • Alcohol Price. I mean I have paid some really expensive prices for drinks in London and in some very popular clubs and bars, but I was not expecting to pay what I paid at Insomnia. It really was quite high and I couldn't really believe it.
    • QJacker. This was the first time that Me and my Pub Quiz Table had used QJacker and we were told it would make our lives easier and we would get our drinks faster and cheaper, in the end after scrolling through it I just said "Sod it lets just go to the bar there is no point in waiting for this order and such a small discount".
    • That bloody airhorn that everyone keeps mentioning, I'm glad it wasn't just me!

    The Ugly
    • I have hardly anything that I can write here..
    • The young man who was kicked out for being too drunk and then decided to run around the BYOC hall with a swarm of Security Guards following him around to try and grab him as he tries to fight them off. Not a nice sight if I was perfectly honest.

Bring on Insomnia61 - I THINK my body has recovered in time and is ready!
